![]() Raise your hand if you’ve already broken your New Year’s resolutions. Or are you one of the people whose resolution was to not make any more resolutions? If you’re an artist who sells your artwork, I believe it’s important that you have a series of New Year’s resolutions so you can have a stellar year. If you want to live your dreams, sell more artwork, and become a known brand among collectors, it probably won’t happen by chance. Maybe lightning will strike and suddenly your world will change for the better, but if you’re a klutz like me ... well, if I don’t have a plan, I’ll wake up a year from now wondering why my business was so awful. Time to Share My SecretsI guess now is as good a time as any to tell you my dark secret. It’s been well kept until now. But the people I live with, the people I work with, all know it to be true. In the interest of coming clean for the new year, it’s time for me to reveal some things you probably don’t know about me. I’m a serious procrastinator.
There, now you know. How, then, is it that I have been running a fairly successful business for over 25 years? How is it that my company profits grew 300 percent last year? How is it that I’ve managed to come up with at least one new company or enterprise each year for the past several years? How is it that I can stand in front of thousands of people in speaking engagements?I start by recognizing my weaknesses, acknowledging that I need to change them, and creating an action plan to address them. I make progress every year. I realized that if I told myself I couldn’t change and couldn’t grow, I would never amount to anything. The only reason I’m not sequestered in some dark studio all day is because I learned how to grow. A New New Year’sI’d like to invite you to hold a second New Year’s Eve celebration at midnight on January 31, and make a new set of resolutions to overcome whatever is blocking your success, to change all the things you want to change. I’d also encourage you to build a plan. In my Art Marketing Boot Camp™, I walk you through how to design your life, how to build a plan, how to know what you really want to do for the rest of your life. The reason I do this is because someone did it for me, and as a result, I built a blueprint for my life. Though it may seem silly to you, I believe that having your plan committed to writing, reading it frequently (daily if possible), and holding yourself accountable is the only way to grow. Problems Still Plague MeI have overcome my personal weaknesses because I have a plan and because that plan has been followed. Don’t think for a second those problems don’t still plague me. They do. But my plan has helped me figure out solutions. Are You 100% Happy With Your Life? Really? In an ideal world, you could dramatically alter the course of your life just by making and building a plan. You’d start by building a one-year plan. That plan would align your dreams with your goals, and deeply design what you would like your life to look like, even if it’s not possible in your mind. Can you do it? Yes. Will you do it? Probably not. The majority of people wish they could do something to change their lives, but they lack the courage. They believe they’ve been dealt certain cards and nothing can change them, but that is a lie. Anyone can change if they work at it. Though no one is 100% happy with every element of their life, my goal is to get you to that dream you’ve always wanted, that change you’ve always known you needed to make. If it can work for me, it can work for anybody. A Well-Designed LifeBy now you could be 1/12th of the way through your annual plan. You could be selling more art than you ever dreamed — and it’s still possible by following my plan. But it starts with a well-designed life, by knowing exactly what you want out of life. I can help you design it. Huffing and Puffing on the TreadmillYesterday I ran into one of the dads I know from Boy Scouts. He was telling me how unhappy he is in his job, how he has dreams of starting up a new business and escaping his tyrant boss, how he dreams of getting a farm to raise his kids. I stopped him and asked, “What is your plan?” His answer was, “I’m stuck. I have no plan. I don’t really believe I can do it, and I can’t leave my job because we need the income.” Though this man is not an artist I asked him to follow me to my car and gave him a DVD of my Art Marketing Boot Camp™. I told him to watch the part about developing a life plan, something I spent a lot of time discussing. I’m convinced it will help him if he watches it and takes action. (I don’t carry these around in my car, I just happened to have one because I’d spoken on marketing for the Austin Pastel Society the night before. Please don’t break into my car.) Hundreds of people are making changes in their lives after viewing my Art Marketing Boot Camp™ DVD or attending the sessions I conducted at the Plein Air Convention. Not Just for ArtistsYou don’t need to be an artist planning to market your work to benefit from the life planning section. Maybe you just want a better life, want to change your circumstances. Just that section alone will help you get there. It’s powerful stuff, and not the typical mindless goal-setting stuff we’ve all heard for decades. One man who attended my session with his wife contacted me and told me what he’d learned was making a huge difference in his life because he applied it at his job. One of Many Smiles“Having seen the advertisements for Art Marketing Boot Camp™, I hesitated because of the price. $147? Seriously? My conclusion after one week? Worth every penny! I am a painter who had success — one-man shows in Paris, London and New York — but whose career took a dive about six years ago. I bought this DVD and am implementing the steps recommended and am convinced this will rebuild my career.” — Susan Tantlinger, Artist Investment in Personal DevelopmentIn his book The 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth, author John Maxwell talks about not being able to afford an audiocassette series he wanted to buy that was designed to help people change their lives. He had a baby on the way and a low-paying job, and the idea of spending the money was tough. But he decided he needed to do it, saved the money, and took the plunge, and now he says it was the one thing that put him on the road to success. He has gone on to speak to millions of people, write over 100 books, and build a highly successful business. A plan worked for him. My goal is to help put you on the right road. Skip One Dinner OutI’ve spent my entire career developing systems that worked for me. Though I’ve got a to-do list a mile long built into my personal growth plan, I feel I’ve made great progress so far, and it’s all because I’ve changed my personal behavior, finding ways to compensate for my weaknesses, and because I have a plan. What plan do you have? Are you willing to invest the cost of a nice dinner out and a few hours of your time to change your life? Success GuaranteedI’d like to invite you to watch my Art Marketing Boot Camp™ DVD. If you want to plan your life, you’ll find it invaluable. If you’re an artist, a photographer, a craftsperson who wants to sell more of your art, there are decades of marketing experience built into this DVD, too. I poured my heart out, explaining most of the things I’ve learned over decades of marketing and brand-building. If you follow these techniques, you will see a dramatic increase in your business. I have evidence of artists doubling and even tripling their art sales, even in this economy. You have my guarantee that if you follow all of my advice and you don’t double your art sales, I will refund the price of the DVD. Don’t let another month of the new year pass by before you begin your plan for success. Eric Rhoads P.S. When I started out, all this marketing stuff was foreign to
me, and, frankly, it was overwhelming. It's not unusual to feel
uncomfortable or uncertain about it. But I have confidence that you can
accomplish your dreams. Sometimes it just takes somebody to show you a
new way of doing things. Will it be easy? No. Will it be fun? Maybe.
Will you realize your dreams? Absolutely. By following my program, even a
fraction of it, you should see big increases in how much art you're
selling. Most people won't be willing to invest in themselves, and those
people will probably remain stuck. Yet the people who are tired of not
having the freedom to quit their job and do art full-time, or those who
just want to sell more art, will take a leap of faith and reap the
rewards. You'll not regret it, and, as I said, I have a success
guarantee. To order, 561-655-8778 |

I was wondering if you ever thought of changing the structure of your site? Its very well written; I love what youve got to say. But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so people could connect with it better. Youve got an awful lot of text for only having one or two images. Maybe you could space it out better?

Today, I went to the beachfront with my children. I found a sea shell and gave it to my 4 year old daughter and said "You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear." She placed the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back! LoL I know this is totally off topic but I had to tell someone!

I'm really enjoying the design and layout of your blog. It's a very easy on the eyes which makes it much more enjoyable for me to come here and visit more often. Did you hire out a designer to create your theme? Great work!
