Daniel E. Greene

Daniel Greene is one of the finest artists living in America today and has painted many prominent people including Eleanor Roosevelt, and John F. Kennedy, therefore I was thrilled when Daniel chose to do my portrait. In July of 2006 I drove from the Adirondack mountains of New York (where we spend our summers) to Daniel's studio in Connecticut. The studio is in a massive old barn and it was filled with works Dan had completed for a show.

Because of the timing and the need to get the portrait to press Dan decided to do the portrait during a portrait workshop, therefore I sat in the evening in front of a dozen or so of Dan's students. From my perspective it was an ideal situation since I love and paint portraiture; I was able to listen to him lecture while painting and able to listen to questions from the audience.

Dan painted the portrait in three or four hours total with breaks about every 30 minutes.
